About Me

Hello, I’m Mhairi. I’m a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) based in Roslin, Midlothian, and I also offer online counselling across the UK. I work with adults who are experiencing challenges such as anxiety, stress, burnout, trauma, grief, addiction, and low mood. My aim is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you can explore what’s happening in your life and begin to make positive changes.

My Approach

The main approach I use is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which explores how your thoughts and behaviours affect the way you feel. Together, we’ll look at unhelpful patterns and gently work towards new ways of thinking and behaving that support your wellbeing.

I also integrate other therapies where they can be helpful, including:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – helping you live in line with your values, even when life feels difficult. Learning to accept “negative” emotions are a part of life instead of working to eliminate them.

  • Compassion-focused therapy – building kinder, healthier ways of relating to yourself, especially if you’re self-critical.

  • Mindfulness techniques – slowing down racing thoughts and becoming more present.

  • Person-centred therapy – keeping your individual needs and goals at the centre of our work.

What Counselling with Me is Like

Counselling is a collaborative process — you set the pace, and we work together to find approaches that fit you. My style is calm, supportive, and down-to-earth. Clients often tell me they feel at ease quickly and that they leave sessions with both practical strategies and a sense of relief from having been truly heard.

My Background
